The Federal Government has said that it is set to build a robust and resilient National Health System of world standard that would benefit Nigerians.
A release signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Linus Awute and sent to Nigerian Pilot Saturday, indicated that the health system being envisaged would response to emergency health issues, meet the world standard public health protocol on cases of Ebola virus containment as well as.
It would be recalled that Nigeria played leading role in the containment process going on in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia.
Awute said the the new NHS would ensure that the rural poor equal access to health care through Universal Health Coverage.
We are going to achieve Universal Health Coverage, not only through the normal statutory budget fund but by effective internal domestic resource mobilization to be driven by Social Health Insurance Programme as well as Voluntary Contributor Social Health Insurance Programme which had been launched by the Federal Ministry of Health now requiring the buy-in of the State Governments to accelerate the process, he promised.
