Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has said that the 47 Boko Haram detainees recently transferred to Ekwulobia Prison in Aguata Local Government Area would soon be relocated.
Obiano disclosed this yesterday after a security meeting with a representative of the National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

The meeting, which lasted for several hours, was attended by officials of the Nigerian Prisons Service, NPS, representatives of other stakeholders such as service commanders, traders, religious and community leaders, heads of youth and women groups.
Addressing newsmen after the meeting, Governor Obiano explained that all the stakeholders flooded the NSA with their emotional outbursts over the development, especially in view of their communities’ vulnerability, given the state of the prison in which the terrorists were deployed.
The governor noted that the visitor, having been well intimated with the facts on ground, promised to inform the appropriate authorities of his findings, raising the hope that the detainees would be taken from Anambra soon based on the overwhelming facts presented to Dasuki.
Obiano assured the people of his commitment to securing them and their property, stressing that his administration had made remarkable progress in social and economic sectors, including the attraction of local and foreign investments because of the relative peace and stability in the state.
Nigerian Pilot recalls that 47 Boko Haram convicts were last month transferred to the Ekwulobia Prison, a development that attracted demonstrations and verbal condemnation from various quarters against the Federal Government’s action.
