President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Augustine Alegeh, SAN has tasked the Federal Government to view every suspect as innocent until proven guilty as doing otherwise will amount to persecuting rather than prosecuting the suspect.
The NBA president also stressed that there is no way corruption could be fought without relying on the rule of law and constitutionalism.
Speaking yesterday in Jos at the National Executive Committee, NEC of the Association, he also called for sanction for erring members,
adding that, “The NBA has zero tolerance on corruption; we support the fight against corruption of this administration but it must be done within the ambit of the law.”

“I must also state that the active participation of the NBA in election monitoring , voter education and public session on universal election best practices have not only strengthened our electoral systems but have gone further to enhance the global acknowledgement of our country’s efforts in ensuring an evolving democracy,” he said.
