In a bid to improve the welfare of staff of the ministry of Finance, the Minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has commissioned a new clinic, an ambulance and crèche for use by the staff of the ministry.
Okonjo-Iweala said that the kind gesture is a way of making the ministry a “family friendly environment so that the staff will feel motivated to work”.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Anastasia Daniel-Nwaobia disclosed that after a review test on all the staff of the ministry, it was discovered that “over 70 percent of the staff of the Ministry were hypertensive”.
Mrs. Nwoabia also said that effort were being put in place to equip the facilities and also introduce a well set up crèche for the staff who are nursing mothers.
The Minister of state for Finance, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda said that the facilities were fully equipped and also manned by professionals who will ensure that the staff receive first aid treatment when necessary and also ensures good maintenance of the facilities.
He also urged other ministries to emulate the innovation so as to improve their staff welfare.
