Property worth over N80 million belonging to Bowlis Company have been destroyed in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, following a fire outbreak in the Farinpa area of the council.
According to the general manager of the company, Abubakar Muhammad, the incident occurred at about 11pm midnight when residents of the area were asleep.
He narrated that “at exactly 11pm on Friday, we suddenly heard people shouting ‘fire outbreak, fire outbreak!’ at the Bowlis Industries and after a short while, the fire spread.
“All our working equipment and chemicals were destroyed but there was no case of death.
“The fire fighters also responded swiftly having been informed on the development. The fire was later put off by the effort of the fire service,” the manager added.
Muhammad, however, said the loud sound experienced during the incident was nothing but the burst of drums containing chemicals, which were parts of the materials used in making the products of the company such as vowles and realine pomade.
He further appealed to the state government and other individuals to assist the management of the company in rebuilding it so as continue with production.
