Former Golden Eaglets handler, Emmanuel Amuneke has been automatically promoted to lead the technical crew of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles after his exploits with the country’s cadet team at 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
The decision to hire Amuneke was ratified by the board of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF after its executive committee meeting in Abuja.
The fate or position of Coach Manu Garba who led U-20 Eagles last year to U-20 World Cup was not stated. Though, speculation suggests that Garba would have been demoted to handle Eaglets team.
Other content of the Communiqué issued at the end of NFF’s meeting revealed “ The Committee endorsed the recommendation of the Technical and Development Committee for the reconstitution of the technical crew of the U-20 National Team, Flying Eagles. Erstwhile U-17 Head Coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, now heads the U-20 crew with Kabiru Baleria and Emeka Amadi as Assistant Coach and Goalkeeper Trainer respectively.
“The immediate disengagement of Mr. Tijjani Babangida as Personal Assistant to Super Eagles’ Coach, Sunday Oliseh, as recommended by the Technical and Development Committee, was unanimously approved and General Secretary was therefore mandated to follow the due process in effecting his disengagement.
