Four persons are currently cooling off their heels at Olokuta prison custody in Akure, the Ondo State capital, for allegedly killing a pregnant woman during scuffle.
When the four were brought before an Akure Magistrate, Sunday Adebayo, the plea of the accused persons, Earnest Orogbemi, 75, Idowu Orogbemi, 52, Sunday Orogbemi, 48, and Kehinde Orogbemi, 33, were not taken.
In addition, they were alleged to have unlawfully abducted one Dada Olusola by forcing him inside a white Mini bus with registration number KTP110XA.
The prosecution alleged that the accused persons and others at large committed the offence at about 9:25pm, along College Road Igbokoda in Ondo State Magisterial District on December 23, 2013.
According to the prosecution, the accused persons and others at large, while in possession of an assaulted riffle, killed one Margret Jimmy by shooting her in the abdomen.
The accused persons were also alleged to have made attempt to murder one Dada Olusola by inflicting various degree of Machete cut on his leg and body with cutlass.
The offence committed is contrary to and punishable under Section 316,324,504 and 319 of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
Supol Pelumi Adejuwon sought for adjournment of the case to enable the court to consult with and seek advice of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, on the matter.
Adejuwon prayed the court to remand the accused persons in prison custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.
In his ruling, the Magistrate, acceded to the prayer and ordered that the accused persons be remanded at the Olokuta prison custody, and also adjourned the case to November 30, for continuation.
