Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, received two distinctive awards for being a public institution with the most robust use of technology.
In an event organised by Nigeria Technology Awards, NITA, in Lagos, recently, the FRSC received the best use of technology award in government category, while its innovativeness in the new driver’s licence got it the award of technology project of the year 2015 also in government category.
According to the Head, Media Relations and Strategy, Bisi Kazeem, the award has shown that the FRSC is a leader in the use of technology among government-owned agencies in the country.
NITA explained that the awards ceremony was organised to recognise and reward technology entrepreneurs, innovators and inventors, academicians and policy makers, adding that it was aimed at building a large scale and internationally recognised technology awards in Nigeria.
According to reports, the FRSC carted away prime positions in two of the five categories, which proved its distinctive use of technology among government institutions in the country.
Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi, who was represented by the Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of Zone 2 Lagos, Assistant Corps Marshal Nseobong Charles Akpabio, said the recognition represents the reality of what is happening in the FRSC and its determination to use technology to resolve some of the traffic management challenges facing the country.
