Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Zonal Commanding Officer, ACM, Aliyu Gunmi yesterday urged Bayelsa and Rivers state command involved in intra-sectorial intervention patrol to checkmate crash causative factors prevention this rainy season.
He gave the charge at the inauguration ceremony of 2015 2nd Quarter intra-sectorial intervention patrol at Ahoada Unit, Rivers state.
He said that, the operation was geared towards checkmating the drivers with worn-out tyres, overloading violation and vehicles with wind shield violation.
Stressing further, he averred that, those driving with expired tyres or without spare tyres, excessive smoke emissions and speed limit violation would be dealt with, as they endangered passengers’ lives.
Dr Gunmi urged the operatives involved in the exercise not to lose focus at the recent effort targeted at rickety vehicles, number plates’ violation, and drivers license violators, all of which must be sustained.
Explaining further, he said the two major roots earmarked for the operation were the East West Road and Calabar route, noting that, East West Road would be covered by Rivers state command while Calabar root would be covered by Bayelsa state Commands.
He appealed to the operatives to participate effectively and to also be safety conscious while performing the operation, stating that, the exercise would go a long way to reduce road traffic crash along major roads.
