National president of Petroleum Tanker Drivers, Comrade Salimonu Akanni Oladiti has debunked a media report accusing its members of involvement in diverting petroleum products to Benin Republic through Seme borders.
Comrade Oladiti, who was reacting to a media report attributed to a federal lawmaker, said PTD members were not marketers and so could not be involved in such a trade.
The national president described the allegation as baseless and untrue, noting that the lawmaker was trying to tarnish the image of the union and members.
Salimonu maintained that his members were not marketers and therefore, nobody could just wake up to accuse them of involvement in diverting petroleum products without any proof.
He warned that any member found fully involve in diversion of petroleum products, the union would allow justice to take its course.
He also added that the union was in full support of the federal government’s policies with a view to ending the fuel crisis in the country.
