President-general of Orisun Igbomina, Chief Gbenga Awoyale has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and his vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, on their inauguration, saying their victory at the last general elections was unprecedented.
He noted that “if not for the kind understanding and the fear of God inherent in former President Goodluck Jonathan, the nation would have been in another period of bloodbath which may eventually claim the much enjoyed peace and unity,” adding that Nigerians would not forget him too soon.
Awoyale, who spoke to journalists at the Ilorin International Airport on Sunday, urged President Buhari not to jolt Nigerians by failing to meet up with his numerous campaign promises, nothing that “the masses are very vast at counting days owing to high hopes and expectations.”
He, however, described the secret declaration of assets by the duo of Buhari and Osinbajo as a great disappointment to Nigerians who have been waiting for them to make the declaration publicly as promised, stressing that “they have failed in that aspect and I urge them to provide genuine reasons to Nigerians for the act.”
Speaking on local government autonomy, the Igbomina chieftain advised the Buhari administration to be steadfast and ensure the survival of the process in the interest of the masses and acceleration of the development of the nation.
He described state governors as the pests destroying the desired growth and development of the grassroots, stressing that “they have crippled local government administration in Nigeria as none of our councils can boost of projects execution and prompt as well as regular payment of salaries of workers.”
Awoyale, also challenged the governors to give account of the excess crude oil fund shared out, of which Kwara State got N52 billion to no specific intervention on the people of the state during the first term of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
