A 20-year old girl has allegedly stabbed her lover to death with a kitchen knife at Ubomiri community in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State.
The young girl identified as Chisom Anyanwu who hails from Ubomiri, it was gathered, sent her lover simply known as Apio to untimely death yesterday with a kitchen knife following an argument that erupted between them.
Nigerian Pilot gathered that the girl’s fury against her boyfriend was not unconnected to an issue between them over the boy’s alleged romance with another girl.
Apio, a native of Egbeada also in Mbaitoli LGA was said to have visited her girlfriend Chisom in their house, Ubomiri, Tuesday around 12.30pm but was immediately turned back by the angry girlfriend on the grounds that she would not like her older siblings to see him.
The slain boy who is said to be the only son of his parents was said to have refused to go after pleadings and she reacted angrily to her lover’s resistance leading to a disagreement that ensued before the lover-boy was stabbed.
When the situation according to eye witness became unmanageable in their house, they rushed the deceased to the Christian Medical Centre, Nworieubi in the Council area where he eventually gave up the ghost.
Following the incident, angry youths, friends and relations of Apio went on rampage burning down the house belonging to parents of the girl accused of killing the boy.
Imo State Police Command Public Relation Officer, DSP Andrew Enwerem who confirmed the incident, disclosed that the suspect had been arrested and investigation commenced.
