All foreign coaches currently discussing with the Amaju Pinnick-led NFF have been warned by the Ambassador Chris Giwa faction against taking the job.
According to a statement signed by the Board’s Director of Public Communication, Ben Alaiya, “President Giwa said the process of engaging a coach for the Super Eagles is ongoing and the person will definitely not be a foreign coach. Our attention has been drawn to attempt by the
Amaju Pinnick group, claiming they want to employ a foreign coach for the senior national team. We are aware of the fact that that group of people are not the real managers of Nigerian football.
“We advise any such group they want to engage to be weary of the reality of the Nigeria Football environment. We advise such coaches to be cautious. We shall not honour any such contract.
President Giwa extolled the contributions of the local coaches in the development of Nigeria footballers saying, “if Nigerian coaches have trained the nation’s youths to the height they have attained in modern football it is only important that the same coaches should be picked to eat from the fruit of their labour no matter what.
“This is why the two deaths of coaches Shaibu Amodu and Stephen Keshi is still a big pain in our hearts. Be that as it may be, we have consulted and in a matter of days will announce the appointment of a national team coach who will be a Nigerian, who we shall give every support to succeed and qualify Nigeria through the group, to the 2018 World cup in Russia.
“We are not followed by the bad luck of not being able to qualify for the Africa Nations cup twice and followed by a string of club failures in the continent,”
He stressed that Nigeria is so blessed with enough human resources to manage even the best teams in the world, we are not untrained not to manage the best of our resources or know how to support our human resources to succeed in the very best environment possible anywhere in the world. Our faith lies in Nigeria resources. We have some of the best resources in both technical and playing staff. We shall give them the environment that is available in the best of nations and they can become household names with what they have achieved.
“The foreign coaches are not better than ours but we have only never learnt to make our human resources feel like kings and queens which we are,” he concluded.
