Globacom Limited sponsorship of the Nigerian Professional Football League has ended with the conclusion of the Super Four last weekend in Uyo.
Both parties, Globacom and the Nigeria Premier Football League, are said to have agreed to a mutual parting of ways.
A source hinted Nigerian Pilot Sports yesterday that the League Management Company, LMC, organizers of the Premier League is set to replace title sponsorship with a six-tier elite partnership model.
For the records, the telecommunications outfit agreed a four-year title sponsorship deal with the Nigerian Premier League (NPL) worth a reported US$16.5 million in February 1, 2013.
The partnership commenced with the 2012-13 season. Globacom presented a cheque for $4.1 million at the contract signing to mark the first payment of the partnership.
The 2015/16 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League kicks off on Sunday, February 21. No sponsor has yet been named by the LMC.
