General Manager, Osun State Tourism Board, Mr. Babatunde Kolawole, has commended the state government for its huge investments in tourism, arts and culture.
Kolawole, who spoke to journalists in Osogbo, disclosed that they have identified some tourist attractions in the state.
According to him, the Tourism Board operates in different areas like hotel hospitality, arts and craft and natural festivals.
He added that O’ Tours programme led by Engineer Danyan Abimbola and assisted by some consultants were able to identify a lot of tourism culture in the state.
However, some of the centres indentified include Olumirin waterfalls, Erin-Ijesa, Ayiikungba waterfalls Oke Ila-Orangun, Ile-Ife duster site Opa Oranmiyan and Ife museum monument. Kiriji war Imesi-Ile and other private museums owned by individuals.
The board also conducted the enumeration of tourist sites like Osun Osogbo, a world recognised annual festiva,l Oke-Iragbiji festival, IwudeIjesa and Olojo festival in Ile-Ife among others.
While speaking on arts and craft, the general manager noted that majority of their works are displayed in galleries, while the tourism board creates employment opportunities and generates fund.
He, however, reiterated the state government’s determination to invite foreign partners to invest in the development of a tourist centre that will be of world standard in the state.
