Gombe State government is to partner the Bank of Industry, BOI, on the provision of solar -power energy to rural communities in the state.
The benefiting communities include Beta in Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area and Lulawa village I & II in Dukku Local Government Area.
Signing the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, for the partnership on Thursday, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo said the project cost N44, 135,684 and would be co-funded with both parties contributing half the amount each.
The governor said he had approved the release of N22, 067,842 as the state’s counterpart amount to facilitate the takeoff of the project.
He appreciated the BOI for partnering with the state in projects aimed at improving socio-economic life of its citizenry.
The managing director and chief executive officer of the bank, Mr. Waheed Olagunju said the bank piloted the project in six communities nationwide, which included Kolwa in Kaltungo Local Government of Gombe State.
He said, “The governor, who was impressed by the developmental impact of the project would have on the community, immediately expressed the Gombe State government’s readiness to partner in replicating the project in the other 10 LGAs of the state.”
