Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly and immediate past chairman of Nigerian Conference of Speakers of State Legislators, Honourable Inuwa Garba on Saturday lost his bid to return to the state assembly for the fourth time.
He was defeated by Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Yamaltu West constituency seat in the state assembly.
The results released so far by the state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, show that the PDP won 14 out of the 24 seats leaving APC with nine while one result is still outstanding.
The outstanding result is that of Kwami East constituency where the election has to be re-conducted in four polling units due to skirmishes.
Results for the constituency cannot be released despite that one of the political parties is said to be ahead with over 500 votes because about 2,000 votes are expected from the four polling units, which is more than the difference between the leading candidate and the closet rival.
PDP formed the majority of the outgoing assembly with 23 out of the 24 members until recently when Umar Barambu and Yahya Tongo defected to APC, under which they contested for House of Representatives.
