As members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP commence the process of rebuilding the party, the Director of Civil Society and Support Groups in the last PDP Presidential Campaign Organization, PCO, Prof. Nick Ezeh has said that all the groups that rooted for the re-election of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan remain the best assets of the PDP.
Prof. Ezeh, who made the assertion in a press conference in Abuja, noted that while the PDP is working on reforming and reorganizing the party for the task ahead, the party should remember the efforts of Support Groups that sacrificed for its candidates in the 2015 general elections.
“The PDP, our great party, should remember the efforts of the Goodluck Support Groups and all the Non Governmental Organizations, NGOs, that contributed immensely during the campaigns for the party and our candidates at all levels during the elections, especially as the party prepares for reorganization and reformation.”
Prof Ezeh, who is also Deputy National Coordinator of Goodluck Support Group, commended the efforts of the groups for giving their support to the President and the party since 2011 when GSG was formed.
He, however, advised the groups to remain intact and not disperse even in the face of trials and tribulations.
“Our Support Groups should continue to remain one and united especially during this period of opposition. We may have lost the election at the centre and in most of the states of the Federation but if we keep our ranks, we can hold the incoming administration to account for all their promises they made to Nigerians,” Prof. Ezeh said.
When asked whether the Support Groups will remain Goodluck Support Group or PDP Support Groups since President Goodluck is no longer in power, he explained that the members of the support groups are all members of the PDP and that the groups will naturally find its place among other organizations within the party.
