Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, yesterday ordered the re-enforcement of tight security at the multi-billion naira Farin Ruwa power plant in Wamba Local Government Area.
The governor gave the directive when he led the state commissioner of police and state director of the Department of State Services, DSS, to an on-the-spot assessment of equipment and facilities at the power plant.
Al-makura explained that the measure was to ensure adequate protection of sensitive and non-sensitive materials that were kept at the plant.
He revealed that the state government was making arrangements for a public/private partnership to complete the project and resuscitate the plant for maximum benefit.
The governor hinted that the state government was working towards evacuating the equipment after stock-taking in order to prevent a re-occurrence of the fire incidence that erupted in a section of the site last February.
He said the project which commenced 12 years ago has cost the state over N6 billion and urged the people to join hands with security agents to ensure the safety of the equipment.
Al-Makura assured that the state government will replace the 500KVA transformer in the community that got spoilt recently.
