Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has warned government officials against indiscriminate sale of government property in the state.
He said that government will not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone caught involved either directly or indirectly in the fraudulent sale of government lands and properties.
The governor who gave the warning in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Ahmed Tukur maintained that the state government will also pull down structures erected on water ways, roads and government land without the necessary government approval.
According to him, his administration would not tolerate criminal conduct from any government official and that henceforth security agencies would be mandated to prosecute anybody involved in using government property for personal use without proper authorisation.
He revealed that plans were on the way by the state government to take inventory of government properties in ministries, agencies and parastatals and provide a data bank for easy access in future.
The governor reiterated that whoever purchased government land or any items belonging to government from unauthorised persons or group of persons under any guise, was doing that at his or her own risk.
He also warned potential property developers, individuals and the public to be wary of the activities of desperate land speculators and fraudsters, calling on relevant government agencies to take note of development on government properties and ensure that such developments are carried out in compliance with the necessary government directives.
