Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has said that he has concluded all necessary arrangements to name his long awaited cabinet in the New Year.
The governor, who dropped the hint at a get together and thanksgiving service held for Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Folorunsho Adewole in Osogbo, the state capital, said that current financial challenges facing states of the federation were responsible for non-constitution of cabinet more than a year after securing his second term in office.
According to him, “new cabinet would be constituted in January 2016 and I want to say that we deliberately did it because of non availability of fund. We have conserved a lot because if you appointed a commissioner, you must pay his salary, he would appoint his personal assistant as well as accommodating him and so on.”
While reiterating that he is in politics to serve humanity rather than selfish interests, Aregbesola assured the people of the state that Professor Adewole would give the state honour at the federal executive council.
He declared that economic austerity is within; adding that the only way out is for the youth to embrace agriculture.
According to him, between 2011 and 2013, the three tier levels of government shared N1.1trillion on monthly basis while Osun State collected at least N4.6billion.
He said, since the economic crisis, the highest that the three tier levels of government distributed is N400billion, which is one quarter of what was being shared in the past.
“With the situation on ground, we need to return to farm to salvage the nation. If we return to farm, there would be more money in circulation, he said.
While speaking, the Minister of Health, Prof Adewole said his appointment was by providence.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Rauf Aregbesola, members of the National Assembly and party leadership in the state for accepting his nomination.
“I know what to do to make my people happy. I want to assure the people, party leadership and members that I will not disappoint them.”
Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Engineer Tunde Ponle had urged the Minister to represent the state well at the federal executive council and always carry the leadership along in the happenings at the centre.
