Bayelsa state government at the weekend urged political appointees to redouble their efforts at building bridges with the people, particularly at the grassroots in a bid to spread the positive message of restoration, irrespective of the lean financial times.
Governor Dickson made the call at the swearing-in ceremony of the Commissioner for Sports Development, Mr. Perekiye John Buruboyefe and four Special Advisers at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Yenagoa.
The Special Advisers are, Hon. Graham Ipigansi for Federal Projects and Liaison, Barr. Belemu Nemine, in charge of Special Duties, Barr. Peter Oku Afagha, to oversee Government Properties, while Chief Abednego Don-Evarada is in charge of Public Affairs.
Expressing concern over the poor documentation of government properties, the Governor charged Barr. Peter Afagha to ensure that compensation matters and other properties of government are documented for record purposes.
“I have noticed that records of a number of our governments are not properly kept. I want you to be responsible for keeping all government properties, wherever they are – in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, London, anywhere they are, so that, from time to time, from government to government, records of the government should be kept in the office of the Governor, Secretary to State Government and that of the State Attorney General.”
