Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom would this week flag off the construction of a Coconut Plantation and Refinery in Mkpat Enin council of the state in fulfilment of his earlier promise to maximize the oppurtunities inherent in cococnut for the increased income and employment for the people of the state.
The inauguration of the coconut plantation and refinery is part of programmes released by the state ministry of information yesterday and made available to Nigerian Pilot in Uyo for the commemoration of the administration’s one year in office
Other projects that would be flagged off by Emmanuel include Ikot Okoro-Ikot Ibritam Road in Oruk Anam council, Ultra-Modern Regional Market, Mbiabong-Etoi in Uyo council and an International Oil Depot by Delmac Petroleum Group in Ibeno council.
The Governor is also expected from Tuesday inaugurate a number of multi billion Naira life-touching projects executed by his administration across the State in the last one year in fulfillment of his promise to engender progressive development in the area.
They include AKWA PRIME Hatchery, Mbiaya in Uruan council, State Secretariat Annex in Uyo, Staff Medical Clinic and Government Mechanical & Electrical Workshop, Uyo as well as Sports Centre and Remodeling works at West Itam Secondary School in Itu council.
Other projects billed for inauguration include emergency works on Oron Town urban roads, Information Drive, Uyo, Medical Emergency Operation Centre in Ikot Ekpene council and the 3.5 km Ikot Udo Road in Ibiono Ibom council.
According to the release ongoing projects earmarked for inspection include the second runway at the Akwa Ibom International Airport, Idiba-Nda Nsit-Nung Udoe Road, Sports Academy in Ikot Mbong, ONNA council, 5 km Ikot Usop-Ikot Edeghe-Ikot Ekpuk Road with 30m span bridge; 6.6 km road network in Atan Offot; 6.4 km Nto Edino-Ekwerre Azu Road in Obot Akara.
Others include dualised Eket-Ibeno Road with four bridges; dualised Uyo-Etinan Road and the 1.2 km underground drainage along Nsikak Eduok Avenue, Uyo while the programme would be rounded off on Sunday with a State Banquet at the Le Meridien Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, Uyo.
