Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong has called on citizens of the state to always be their brother’s keeper and learn to tolerate each other.
In this veing Gov ernor Lalong also reassured citizens of Yelwa community of Shendam Local Government Area of the state that his administration would continue to protect the lives and property of the citizens in the locality and the entire state at large, stressing that he would not relent on his effort to strengthen the existing peace and harmony currently being enjoyed in the state .
According tohim, if there was anywhere to start the apostle of peace in Plateau it was Yelwa because the area had experienced series of crises in the past. He said, “ we have demonstrated that peace is everything to us as you can see in the first ten- month of this government, there is relative peace in the state and we will continue to sustain it.”
The governor gave the assurance at the weekend in Yelwa during an occasion organised by Yelwa Community Development Association, YCDA, in honour of its sons whom were appointed into government.
Governor Lalong who was represented by the Director of Research and Documentation government house, Professor John Wade, while appreciating the community for organising such occasion said such gesture was highly commendable.
He said, “We want to thank you for demonstrating this gesture of appreciating government for recognising your sons and daughters in governance.’’
“ Our administration wouldn’t forget Yelwa because the community wholeheartedly supported President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Lalong especially during the campaigns “
A community elder in the locality Dan’asabe Isa while appreciating what the government has done to the community commended Governor Lalong for ensuring that lasting peace is been restored to the state. .
Speaking earlier , Chairman of YCDA, Hon. Yakubu Haruna, said Yelwa community comprises of both Christians and Muslim and have agreed to live together. He said, “ you can see for yourself how Christians and Muslims danced and celebrated together. Yelwa is very peaceful, He added.
