Katsina State governor, Aminu Bello Masari has said that the state would support Christians in the state to enable them participate in the 2015 Christians pilgrimage exercise, considering its moral and spiritual benefits.
Masari disclosed this on Monday when the executive secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, NCPC, Mr. John Kennedy Opara and his federal commissioners who were on sensitisation visit called at the Government House, Katsina.
Governor Masari commended the NCPC boss for introducing the skill acquisition programme into the pilgrimage exercise.
According to him, “I am impressed with the forward thinking and forward initiative you have introduced in your pilgrimages so that people can benefit from Christian pilgrimage.”
He added that the lottery scheme he had introduced was highly
commendable, saying “your giant stride for self sustenance is very impressive.”
The governor encouraged religious leaders in the country to preach good leadership to their congregation, noting that “it is only a just and fair leadership that can make our country a better place.”
He thanked the executive secretary and his team for their visit to the state, adding that their visit to the state had shown respect for the culture and tradition of the people of Katsina.”
Speaking earlier, Mr. Opara congratulated the governor for his victory at the last election.
“Your victory was a well deserved one,” as he prayed that God would help him in his new office to serve the people of Katsina well.”
He commended the governor for the giant strides he had put in place to strengthen the people of Katsina State.
