There are imminent fears among senior civil servants in Benue as the state Governor, Samuel Ortom has embarked on the sack of top government functionaries, including heads of boards and parastatals.
The action which is widely believed to be political is said to be targeted at Director Generals of Services and Administration, DGSAs of local government councils, treasurers and cashiers of the 23 councils of the state.
Besides, it was gathered that statutory boards could be dissolved anytime, including the Benue State Health Management Board, BSHMB, Local Government Service Commission, amongst others.
The chairman, BSHMB, Dr Terver Tule who said he only heard of his sack on the radio wrote on facebook saying, “Excellency, I have just been relieved of my job through a radio announcement approved by the Governor and signed by SSG as announced.
“May the Good Lord guide your tenure and bless Governor Ortom to bring the much desired change Benue and Nigeria deserve. May God see His Excellency excel above the guise of what Benue portents and expose those who will want to stand in the way of the change agenda of the work man.
“I promise to remain a law abiding citizen under you and will pay due diligence and loyalty to your administration as a professional. Warm regards to my Governor.”
The radio announcements which were signed by the Governor’s Adviser on Media and ICT, Tahav Agerzua, had directed the affected officers to handover to their next in command.
