Sokoto State Government has congratulated Nigerian Muslims for witnessing another appealed to them to use the noble occasion of the holiday to intensify prayers for the nation.
This was contained in a statement signed and issued by Malam Imam Imam, the spokesman to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, yesterday.
It urged all citizens to care, love and protect one another, adding that Islamic virtues of unity, peace and honesty should be promoted by all persons.
The statement said Sokoto state government will continue with policies and programmes that will uplift the dignity and living standard of all persons.
It equally commiserated with the families of the citizens of the state who either got injured or lost their lives in the Hajj stampede last month. It reiterated government’s commitment to assist families of all victims, saying no victim will be left unattended to.
The statement prayed for a prosperous Islamic New Year for all citizens.
It will be recalled that the Sultanate Council announced yesterday as new Islamic Calender, however, the Sokoto state government has declared Thursday a public holiday to mark the occasion.
But Nigerian Pilot who was on the scene as well, visited several schools in the metropolis gathered that, most school turn up to school because the directives was not communicated to them.
