Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has urged authorities of the Nigeria Police Force to deploy low ranking officers to their states of origin.
He said this will not only boost community relations, but also help in reducing crime in the society.
Speaking when he received the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, in charge of Zone 10, Tambari Muhammad Yabo, at the Government House in Sokoto, Tambuwal said the officers will use their familiarity with the norms and values of their states to tackle criminal activities.
He said the state government has enjoyed a cordial relationship with the police and expressed confidence that the gesture will continue.
Tambuwal noted that efforts are on course to revive the state’s internal security outfit, known as ‘‘Operation Mesa’’, to complement the efforts of other security agencies.
In his remarks, AIG Yabo said he embarked on a sensitisation tour to educate officers on the force’s new direction.
