A faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ebonyi State has chided what it described as the unpreparedness of Governor Dave Umahi to govern the state, as being demonstrated by what the party described as his many lopsided policies, administrative somersaults and vindictiveness.
The party also condemned the appointment of the wife of Ebonyi State Chief Judge, Mrs Lilian Nwankwo, as the chairman of the State Local Government Service Commission.
The condemnation against the Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP’s government in the state at the weekend by the faction was contained in a communiqué it released at the end of its meeting and signed by the its acting chairman, Pastor Eze
Nwachukwu Eze and Publicity Secretary, Engr Ngaji Nwodo.
According to the communiqué, the APC noted the unpreparedness of the PDP-led government in the state for leadership, as being demonstrated by its many policies and administrative summersaults including vindictiveness.
It noted that such appointment of the wife the Chief Judge of the state would have effect on the state judiciary. “This shows that it is not only lacking in focus and ideas but also not the type of government Ebonyians are yearning for,” the communiqué said.
The Party also resolved to build one indivisible, indissoluble and united front for the purpose of winning future elections in the state.
“To achieve this, the meeting advised that all known internal wrangling and cleavages wherever they had existed should completely be eradicated to ensure that the APC wins all the future elections, especially the governorship election”, it added.
The party in the communiqué appreciated the optimum growth of the party as recorded by the recent influx of other members from different political parties into its fold adding that the new members would be accorded equal rights and opportunities as provided for in the party’s constitution.
However, reacting to the APC’s communiqué, Chief Joseph Onwe, PDP chairman in Ebonyi State noted that APC’s faulting of the chief judge’s wife appointment was baseless and political.
According to him, the appointment has nothing to do with the judiciary, as the chief judge’s wife is neither a judge nor a member of the judiciary adding that she is only the chief judge’s wife and cannot meddle into the affairs of the judiciary.
Onwe noted that the policies of the state government under the party’s control were aimed at developing the state and bringing democratic dividends to the people.
