Barely one year after their appointment, the Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has sacked Local Government Council Caretaker Chairmen in the state.
A statement by the State’s Commissioner for Information, Sen Emmanuel Onwe, directed the affected Chairmen to hand over government property in their possession before the end ofThursday.
According to the statement, “The Caretaker Chairmen are directed to hand over to Heads of Personel Management (HPMs) in their respective local government before the close of business on Thursday September 8, 2013”.
The statement also announced a minor reshuffling of the governor’s cabinet.
Those whose portfolios were changed include, Hon Mrs. Elizabeth Nwogbaga who was in charge of Ministry of Border Peace and Conflict Resolution. She was transferred to Culture and Tourism Ministry.
Mr. Francis Orji, from the Ministry of Water Resources was moved to Border Peace and Conflict Resolution.
Mrs. Euphemia Nwali was moved from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to Water Resources Ministry.
Donatus Njoku of the Solid Minerals will be taking over Economic Empowerment and Job Creation from his counterpart, Rt. Hon Sabinus Nwankwegu.
