The Zamfara state governor Alhaji Abdulazeez Yari has promised to reduce youth unemployment among the teeming young graduates in the state.
The governor made the remarks in his acceptance speech at Government House in Gusau, over his victory during the last governorship election in the state.
Governor Yari said his victory was destined by God, adding that more jobs would be created for youths in the state in order to enhance a better living standard.
Yari who identified youths as leaders of tomorrow as well as yardstick for national development and security, said his administration would find a blueprint that can to gainfully engage the youths.
He further promised to form a unity government that will involve all stakeholders to move the state forward. He called on his opponents to come together and cooperate with his administration to enable him transform the state to greater heights.
He also commended the entire people of the state, for the cooperation given to him during his first term, calling and on them to remain law abiding citizens for peaceful coexistence to thrive in the state.
“No nation can progress in any given context in the absence of peace, so we are appealing to our people, particularly young ones to shun any form of violence or criminal conspiracy that could disrupt our good policies and programmes in developing our state,” the governor said.
He also commended the security agencies and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring free, fair and peaceful elections across the state, describing the effort of the two agencies during the April 11 elections as welcome development.
