Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari has promised to address the security challenges confronting the state which has led to killing, maiming and cattle rustling of innocent citizens across the state by unidentified gunmen and cattle rustlers.
The Governor made the pledge in a special Sallah broadcast message to Muslims in the state which mark the end of the month of Ramadan.
Yari said adequate strategies have been map out between Zamfara State government in collaboration with Police, Army and other security agencies of the state on how to track down the criminals and prosecute them.
He further declared that seven states which include, Niger, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate to tackle security challenges in the zone.
“We will soon form a powerful security join task forces comprising Army, Police, NSCDC, SSS to help the states in curbing insecurity challenges which bedeviled rapid development of our seven states in the area of socioeconomic and political potentials for over one decade back”. Governor Yari said.
He gave assurance that every logistics support will be given to the security agencies by the seven states in order to enable them achieve the set target of ridding the zone of criminals.
The Governor also commiserated with the people of Chigama villager in Birnin Magaji Local Council over the recent attack which led to the death of over 40 people to cattle rustlers, while calling on communities from across the 14 local government areas of the State on the needs to report any security breach within their domain to the nearest security agents for urgent action.
