Plateau state governor Simon Lalong , has affirmed that his government would create the enabling environment that would grow the economy of the state through Public and private sector participation.
Governor Lalong stated this yesterday at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) while delivering his speech at a strategic retreat Titled (Delivering Effective Service with less Resources ) organised by the state government for members of the state executive council in collaboration with the German International Corporation (GIZ)
He said the reforms and structural adjustments at the federal and state level, aimed at cutting the cost of governance and exploring alternative sources of funding are the change ideology and his government would work tirelessly to transform the state and deliver on the Promises he made to our people.
He said “The tangible and progressive development we seek demands continuous knowledge driven action which saves cost and maximises opportunities “, “ our economic challenges have compelled us to see ahead, look ahead, prepare ahead and be ahead, if ever we sincerely desire to make the kind of positive impact we seek to make on our sincerely bid to make lighter the burden of existence for all our citizens.
“For this policy thrust to be realisable , I must emphasis that team spirit , financial prudence , discipline , dedication to duty , leadership drive and strategic implementation of Policies , programs and actions are necessary ingredients for success.
“I therefore urge you all to begin a process of critical thinking on the quick fixes that would make you hit the ground running in your various Ministries and Agencies “”. We have already set in place strategic initiatives and programs with the time lines, over short, medium and long terms for the actualization of our policy Thrust, which will be unveiled at this Retreat, “ Lalong further said
Also speaking at the occasion , the country Director of GIZ Inna Homas, said they believe that promoting , energy efficiency, rural electrification and sustainable economic development on the other hand as well as deepening economic development for peace and stability are all key areas for Nigeria in general and Plateau state in Particular “ “
“We believe that the promotion of Small Medium scale Enterprise MSMEs as fundamental part of the economy can spur economic growth , income generation and employment creation “
“This is vital to the achievement of the national development targets, particularly in the non Oil sectors and also for growth in internally generated revenue of the state. This needs to be also complemented by enhancing the skills and knowledge of farmers and workers.
“GIZ Nigeria and its office in Jos wishes to express its readiness and commitment to continue to partner with all relevant stakeholders in the state to achieve National development target by contributing to the development of Plateau and its economy.”
