Governorship election petition tribunal have yesterday been inaugurated in Kaduna State to hear the grievances of the aggrieved parties arising from the conduct of the April 11 governorship election in the state.
The tribunal comprises of a three-man panel with Hon. Justice A. A. Adebara as Chairman and Hon. Justice Dr. Ngozika Uwa Okaisabor and Hon. Justice Yaro Gambo as members.
Speaking while delivering his speech at the inaugural sitting of the tribunal in Kaduna yesterday, Chairman of the tribunal, Justice A. A. Adebara said, so far, only one petition has been filed.
According to him, “it is common knowledge that Governorship elections were held throughout the Federation on 11th April, 2015. In other words, elections were held throughout the thirty-six (36) states comprising Nigeria, Kaduna State inclusive on 11th April, 2015.
“This tribunal is to hear the grievances of the aggrieved parties arising from the conduct of the said Governorship election held in Kaduna State. So far, only one petition has been filed.
“Counsel are therefore reminded to avoid the request for unnecessary adjournment. On our own part, as judicial officers, we are under oath to administer justice without fear or favour, affection or ill-will.
