Senior special assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Youths Matters and Delta State chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Comrade Hope George has urged the youths in the state to remain steadfast, peaceful in order to woo more investors into the state.
Comrade George, who was speaking in an interview with newsmen in Asaba yesterday, said, “Youths should give peace a chance because there cannot be a conducive environment without peace where business can thrive. With peace, investors will come into the state to invest.”
According to George, since the creation of Delta State, the Okowa-led administration has given youths the needed
attention with the creation of various youths empowerment programmes aimed at engaging the youths in various skills, as his STEP programme, amongst others, involve many youths.
Recalling that the Okowa-led administration has engaged I,300 youths in various skills, with more still coming.
“With this we see the present government as partner in progress to be compared to how it used to be during
previous administrations,” he stated.
He emphasised that Nigeria as a nation needed to do more in engaging more young people as well as giving them a sense of belonging, saying that the youths were major contributors to the Nigerian nation.
