Buhari Friends Organisation Network, BFON, has called on president-elect, Gen Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) to revive the popular War Against Indiscipline, WAI, used during his period as military head of state to bring sanity into Nigeria’s national life.
It also urged him as a matter of urgency to put in place machinery on assumption of office to address issues confronting the under-utilisation of the country’s refineries.
National coordinator of the group, Saint Athanasius Okon told newsmen in Uyo yesterday that the president-elect should also ensure that his government tackled the scarcity of petroleum products and making them available to the poor masses.
Okon maintained that restoring the WAI would go a long way in reducing abuse of ethics, rule of law, immorality and other negative vices that have brought about moral and ethical corruption in the country.
Other burning issues that the national Coordinator wants Buhari to address include the problem of power generation, multiple taxation and ensuring that freedom of expression is guaranteed at all times to all Nigerians.
He said that the overwhelming support the president-elect enjoyed was borne out of the electorate’s conviction of his personal integrity and capability to take Nigeria out of the woods, adding that FBON was determined to support him in this regard.
“Buhari Friends Organization Network is determined to support and encourage the new government to succeed at all cost, in order for the poor that have been yearning for change, to not witness it but have in full and the full change is positive. We shall use this platform to the fullest to campaign against corruption and other social vices in the society,” Okon explained.
