Ahead of the Kogi State governorship election coming up in November, a group known as Executive Council of Kogi Equity Initiative, ECKEI has denounced a purported endorsement of Governor Idris Wada’s second term ambition by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stakeholders in the state.
It said the endorsement is not with the consent of their various constituencies, adding that the absence of consultation with relevant stakeholders amount to a reflection of selfish wishes of those endorsing the governor.
In a statement signed by its protem coordinator, Hon Fehinti Dada at the weekend and made available to newsmen in Abuja, the group urged the people of the state to ignore such endorsement.
“We categorically dissociate the good people of Kogi West and Central Senatorial districts from the endorsement of an administration characterised by nepotism, ineptitude and maladministration”, it stated.
It also condemned the call on federal government for reimbursement of monies expended in executing federal government projects by the Wada administration in the state, urging the federal government to do a proper verification of claims on such projects with a view to ascertaining their existence and locations.
According to the group, there are evident near absence of such projects in Kogi West and Central Senatorial districts. “The release of such funds to the state government will amount to the FG aiding and abetting nepotism, injustice, maladministration and inequity as most projects are concentrated in the Eastern Senatorial district”, it said.
The group therefore urged the federal government to ensure that such funds are released directly to finance projects in the other two districts.
“We plead with President Muhammadu Buhari to wade into the noted imbalances in project execution in the state”, it added.
