A non-governmental organisation, Society for Promotion of Peace in Nigeria, said it has designed a project that would stop youths from engaging in criminal and terrorist activities.
The group, which said it was disturbed by the incessant loss of lives in Nigeria and other parts of the world arising from terrorist activities, said it decided to partner with governments and world leaders to end terrorism and other criminal vices.
It also stressed the need to engage the youths positively through educational seminars and workshop that would ensure skills expertise and exposure in entertainment.
Addressing journalists yesterday in Abuja, the Director-General of the organisation, Dr. Godson Nnaka, said the terror-free world project is a two-part initiative comprising of an educational workshop/seminar and talent audition.
He stated that the organisation would directly interface with the youths and offer them the opportunity to harness their inner talents, provide career, jobs, help them to attain fame and achieve their dreams.
“The objective of the workshop is to empower interested youths with the knowledge and skills needed to access and take advantage of opportunities in the global entertainment field, while the talent audition was an abridged freestyle audition in the fields of acting, music, singing, dancing, modeling, fashion design and make-up artistry.”
Nnaka further disclosed that the visiting Hollywood stars supported by their local counterpart would be responsible for counseling interested youths, judging and selecting the winners.
He said winners in each of the six categories would receive scholarship for training in the United States and Europe and a modeling contract.
“This programme was anticipated to have thousands of Nigerian youths with extended audience of more than five hundred million people through live media and internet coverage within and outside Nigeria.
