CENTER For Women, Youth and Community Action, CWYCA, a Non-governmental Organisation in Nasarawa state, in collaboration with the Unilever Nigeria PLC yesterday disbursed relief materials worth millions of naira to orphans and vulnerable children in Nasarawa-Eggon local government area of the state.
Executive Director of the NGO, Mr. Nawani Aboki who made the distribution explained that a total of 2,138 homes in the locality were to benefit from the disbursed relief materials.
He thanked Unilever for collaborating with the organisation and urged community leaders at the exercise to deliver the relief materials to their subjects, warning that appropriate sanctions will be meted against any community leader that diverts the materials.
In a remark at the occasion, the state Director, National Orientation Agency, Mr. Elisha Iyakwari commended the NGO for the gesture and appealed to the people to embrace peaceful coexistence in order to benefit from dividends of democracy.
Also speaking Executive Chairman of Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Council, Mr. Aklo Success who was represented by the council’s Secretary, Obadiah Ombugadu assured that the council will continue to support the donor in every way possible to enable it put more smiles on the faces of the vulnerable children in the society.
Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mohammed Arishi commended the NGO for the kind gesture and challenged other individuals and organizations to emulate CWYCA.
He assured that the items would get to the rightful beneficiaries devoid of diversion.
Nigerian Pilot reports that items distributed include; cartoons of soaps, roll on, lotion and spray, among others.
