AFOR Ajiri Youth Movement in Nasarawa State has endorsed the senator representing Nasarawa West senatorial district at the National Assembly, Abdullahi Adamu, for Senate presidency of the eighth Assembly.
The group in a statement signed by its chairman and secretary, Mr. Mohammed Olu Agbawu and Mr. Luka Owuna Ekpo, and made available to newsmen yesterday in Lafia, explained that their position was based on the integrity and antecedents of the lawmaker.
The statement maintained that the desire for the senator was because of his nationalistic disposition and service to humanity.
It argued that as a two term governor and an old timer in the upper chambers of the National Assembly, Senator Adamu had the requisite experience to head the senate.
It recalled that Adamu had provided employment to all first set of graduates of Nasarawa State University regardless of ethnic group during his administration as governor of the state, pointing that political appointments were also given to non-indigenes in the state.
The statement read in parts: “The establishment of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nasarawa State Polytechnic, School of Health Technology, Keffi, and School of Nursing, Lafia, can never be forgotten in a hurry in the history of the state.”
The group expressed confidence that if given the job, Senator Adamu would unite all senators and ensure harmony and cordial working relationship between the National Assembly and the
executive in the next dispensation.
