GROUP under the auspices of World Assembly of Youths, WAY, has commended the federal government for the appointment of King Alfred Deitte-Spiff to lead the Niger Delta dialogue and contact group. Vice President of WAY, Mr Preye Ketebu-Brown, in a statement issued yesterday in Yenagoa noted that the monarch has the pedigree and clout to achieve peace in the Niger-Delta. “The constitution of the Niger Delta Dialogue and Contact Group by President Muhammadu Buhari headed by King Alfred Deitte-Spiff is indeed a positive posture aimed at a pragmatic approach to regional peace and stability in the Niger Delta. “It is hoped that the Niger Delta Avengers, other aggrieved persons and groups shall embrace this olive branch and work with King Diette-Spiff’s Contact Group/Committee for peace to reign, we equally advice
the contact group to engage renowned peace advocates. “This development was highly commended at the ongoing Euro-Afro-Arab Youth Leaders consultations in Romania. The consultations hosted by the President, Romanian National Youth Council, Mr. Mihai Dragos, and presided over by Ketebu-Brown, noted that resolving the Niger-Delta crisis would create an atmosphere for economic progress in Nigeria and Africa.” According to the statement, WAY consultations are holding on the sideline of the Fourth Child and Youth Finance International Summit in Bucharest, Romania. Challenges of youth migrants and those trapped in conflict alongside the rising danger of radicalisation topped the agenda. Ketebu-Brown said deliberations are ongoing about the host country for the forthcoming WAY Summit with Romania, Nigeria and Jordan in contention.
