Kaduna based Non-Governmental Organisation, Tally Widows Forum, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that the 35 percent affirmative action for women is adhered to in the sharing of political offices.
Founder of the forum, Mrs. Nancy Talatu Harry, made the appeal while speaking with journalists in Kaduna, yesterday.
Harry said out of the 21 ministerial nominees, only three women were nominated, hence the need for President Buhari to increase the number of women in subsequent appointments.
She said the president should look around him and get women that would work with the men in his cabinet.
Harry expressed disappointment over a former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Allison-Madueke’s, indictment in corrupt practices, saying that could be the reason why Buhari didn’t nominate many women for appointments.
