Piqued by the ages of those nominated for ministerial appointment, a youth group, Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation, AGF, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to include youths in his administration.
The group specifically demanded that Ministry of Youth be headed by a youth due to their contributions to the emergence of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC at the March and April general elections.
National Chairman of the group, Ganiyu Shittu, stated this in Osogbo, Osun State capital, during a South-West general meeting, held in the state.
Addressing the participants who cut across the six states in the South West of the country, Shittu said, “We’ve written several letters to the president to appoint a youth as Minister of Youth Development because he knew the role the youths played in the last elections.”
He commended the president for the ministerial list he submitted to the Senate, describing it as “accurate and proper.”
The National Coordinator of AGF who commended the members of the foundation for the vital roles they played in ensuring that President Muhammadu Buhari emerged victorious in the last general elections, stressed the need for them to remain united as this was part of the cardinal objective for convening the meeting.
He described Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a major principal in the change project, warning the opposition against disrupting the peace of the country.
He condemned media report on the alleged rift between Tinubu and the president, asking, “why would a person who sacrificed his life to ensure the success of the present administration now begin to plot against it?”
He urged the people to continue praying for the president and support his efforts to fight corruption in the country.
Also, the General Secretary of the group, Comrade Adeleye Akintola, urged the youth to uphold the principle of loyalty established by Asiwaju Tinubu, stressing that the principle and ideology of Tinubu is worthy of emulation, noting that he has always been in support of youth development.
“People like Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, Abike Dabiri, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Hon Kuforiji, Dr Kayode Fayemi are those Asiwaju brought to the limelight of politics and this is enough to celebrate him when he is alive,” he said.
