The former chairman of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Malam Nuhu Ribadu has been called upon to dump the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and join the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to contribute towards implementing the change agenda of the current federal government.
The call was made by a group known as Forum for Awareness and Integrity, FAI, through its coordinator in charge of the North-East zone, Alhaji Suleiman Ahmed Jaingol.
While speaking to journalists in Bauchi after the zonal meeting of the group, he said the former EFFC boss had the ability to contribute towards transformation of the country.
The coordinator disclosed that they had concluded all consultations within the region and had found it necessary to call on Mallam Ribadu to join the ruling party in order to contribute his own quota in the development of the nation.
“It is in acknowledgment of Ribadu’s modest achievements and integrity that we believe the present administration needs people of his caliber that have excellent track records to move the country forwards.
“We are aware of his political mis-calculations, but the country needs him most. Let him not look at the party he should look at the mess in the country. We need him to join the team to fix the country for the betterment of Nigerians,” he stated.
Jaingol stated that the integrity of the former EFCC boss qualified him to work with Mr President as he could be entrusted with any assignment given to him, saying the country belonged to all Nigerians, “that is why if a personality is identified with such attribute, that personality should be called upon to contribute his quota.”
The coordinator dismissed the claims that he was sponsored to make such calls, pointing out that the former EFCC boss was not even aware of the activities of the forum but their recommendation came after investigating his profile and service to the nation.
Ahmed stressed that Ribadu’s doggedness “has been widely acknowledged by bringing to his job a deep passion and an exemplary sense of dedication and efficiency and recorded most notable achievements in EFCC which is still fresh in the minds of Nigerians.
