A security guard, Mohammed Ismaila was yesterday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates Court for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old minor (names withheld).
The 27-year-old suspect who resides at 23, Araromi Street, Itire Surulere, Lagos, was arraigned on one-count charge of defilement.
Prosecutor, Jimah Iseghele informed the court that the offence was committed at Dammyville School, Surulere on August 8.
Iseghede further informed the court that the accused called the minor and sent her to buy a sachet of water for him, and that on arrival of the victim, the accused told her to drop the sachet water inside his room and he shut the door.
He said; “The accused defiled the girl and it was her cry that made the passerby to peep through the room window and saw the accused in the act.”
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Tajudeen Elias, granted bail to the accused in the sum of one million naira with two sureties in like sum.
Elias also ordered the accused to deposit N200, 000 into the court Registrar’s account as part of the bail condition.
He adjourned the case till August 28, for mention.
