Violence has rocked some parts of Rivers State, thus disrupting the governorship and house of Assembly elections.
While accreditation have started in some local government areas of PHALGA, Ikwerre, Akuku-Toru, Bonny and Degema some others are still waiting arrival of materials.
One person was this morning beheaded in Buguma, head quarters of Asari-Toru local government area, while the office of the Independent National Election Commission, INEC and that of the People’s democratic party were burnt by hoodlums. Also razed down was the residence of the state commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Joeba West.
There were also heavy shooting as supporters of the two rival parties, APC and PDP clashed.
Also in Abua Central, head quarters of Abua/Odual local government area, one man was beaten to death this morning.
Again, in Rumuepirikom area of Obio/Akpor, there was violence after supporters of one of the political parties blocked the distribution centre and hijacked allegedly materials. Nigerian Pilot further gathered that a fight broke out thereafter, as Channels crew were beaten up.
Furthermore, there were heavy shootings in Rumuokparali community in Obio/Akpor, a situation that made voters who had already gathered to scamper for safety.
