Osun State Correspondent for the NewTelegraph Newspapers, Prince Adeolu Adeyemo narrowly escaped death when he was attacked by unknown gunmen, who waylaid him on his way to Ile-Ife to cover the final farewell activities of the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade.
The Journalist, who was attacked on Thursday between Sekona and Edunabon area of the road, was frisked violently by the fierce-looking gummen who made away with his I-PAD, Blackberry phone, money, diary and other personal things.
According to Adeyemo, he was ordered to lie down flat on the main road before being beaten blue-black after they collected the items.
One of them, who later ordered him to raise his head up, said “I give you few minutes to disappear with your vehicle now or you will find yourself to blame at the end of the day.”
Not quite long after he had given the order, he threatened to go berserk with the dane- gun he was holding if his order was not carried out with immediate effect.
The incident had already been reported to the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, of the Nigeria Police, Osun State Command.
According to the Command’s Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, Mrs.Folashade Odoro, the perpetrators would soon be arrested by the police, while using the medium to call on the general public to always report any criminal incidence in their area to the police.
