Six persons including a security agent with the Special Task Force, STF, deployed to restore law and order in Plateau State were said to have sustained injuries when unknown gunmen attacked Bisichi community in Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau state yesterday.
A community leader, Sarki Ibrahim Isa, said five men from the community had been shot by the gunmen while a subsector commander with the STF was also shot.
Isa said the attackers surrounded the community around 7am and shot at innocent civilians, adding that “they cannot move the injured to the hospital because the roads are blocked.
“We have just seen the STF, they have arrived but we are not sure if the gunshots we are still hearing are from the STF or our attackers. So we still cannot leave,” he said.
He however said four hilux vehicles and an armored tank had been stationed in the community.
STF media and information officer, Capt Ikedichi Iweha confirmed that there was an incident in Bisichi but asked for time to give the details.
