Unknown gunmen yesterday broke into the premises of the National/State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Makurdi, Benue State capital.
According to an eye witness, the robbers whose number could not be ascertained broke into the court premise in the night and tried to cart away certain exhibits being used for the tribunal in the ongoing election petitions before it.
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Austin Ezeani, denied the claims that the robbers attempted to steal exhibits from the court.
Ezeani said the robbers broke into the court, tied up the security man and took away a generator, maintaining that the police were already on the trail of the robbers and that no arrest had yet been made.
