b-haramNo fewer than 20 persons were said to have been killed by unknown gunmen in Gworon Dutse village in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state.
Information from the area revealed that a gang of thieves on Wednesday morning shot dead at least 20 people and set their houses on fire.
The thieves, according to reports from the area were said to have stormed the village in the early hours of the day (morning).
Another version of the information has it that the armed thieves were in the village on a revenge mission, following killing of their two colleagues previously.
Meanwhile, Kaduna State governor-elect, Malam Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai yesterday condemned the killings, and called for urgent action by the security forces to stem acts of banditry and terror in the area.
Efforts to confirm the incidence from the Kaduna State Police Command proved abortive as calls put to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Zubair Abdullahi phone rang but he did not pick his calls.
